Exchange

To mark this jubilee year, 2025, we have launched a new initiative called Exchange – a bilateral exchange program carried out in collaboration with other international performance festivals. It is worth noting that this initiative has been launched without any specific targeted financial support.

This year, and hopefully for many years to come, we are proud to initiate a collaboration with VIVA! Art Action in Montréal, Québec, Canada – a festival with which Live Action has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Through this collaboration, Live Action welcomes Québec-based artist Mai Bach Ngoc Nguyen, selected by VIVA and its director, artist and curator Michelle Lacombe.
In return, Live Action’s curator, Jonas Stampe — also Senior Curator and Senior Researcher at one of China’s leading art institutions, the Red Brick Art Museum in Beijing — will select a Swedish artist to take part in VIVA! Art Action in Montréal, from October 8–11, 2025.

In 2026, we plan to expand this initiative to include one or two additional festivals, thereby broadening the international visibility and impact of Swedish performance art in a natural and sustainable way. In 2027, the next artist exchange with VIVA is scheduled to take place as part of the biennial cycle.

As a professional yet artist-centered performance festival, we are proud to support not only artistic visibility but also meaningful public engagement through a new model of exchange. Our festival is in constant reinvention – as both a platform and an advocate for an art form that is non-commercial and deeply rooted in avant-garde intentions and modes of expression.
