Jason Lim, Singapore

Born in 1966, lives and works in Singapore.

"For me, to perform is to practice, and to learn. The performance before the last informs on the next one; each performance is therefore a practice, a lesson, and an exercise. It is also an investigation into what to do and how to do it, and how to ask and how to answer. A true performance takes place when the performer loses control, when he takes risk, when he situates himself at risk and he becomes the medium in the process. I now make performance to reveal my current psychological state and to explore the potential of the less travelled roads."Jason Lim holds a Bachelor of Art  (Hons) Degree from Central St Martins College of Art & Design, U.K. and a Master of Fine Art from Royal Melbourne Institute Technology University, Australia. He makes ceramics sculptures, installation art, videos and performance art. Lim has organized and created various platforms for alternative art practitioners to meet and collaborate. Lim was co-Artistic Director of Future of Imagination 2, an international performance art meeting held in Singapore in 2004. In 2005, he organized StopOver – Singapore/Japan performance art meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and FrontRoom Gallery, Singapore.

In 2007, Jason Lim presented his work at the Singapore Pavilion in the 52nd Venice Biennale and at the 4th World Ceramics Biennale in Korea.
